BoneRad.com: Construction of a Comprehensive Teaching File and Internet Resource As digital technology has advanced, radiologists spend an increasing amount of time interfacing with computers. There has, however, been a lag in transferring the traditional mode of radiology education, the teaching file, to electronic format. This is because there is no one standard, and the creation of electronic teaching files is often a laborious and tedious effort, even for the experienced. Using commonly available software, it is possible to create a detailed, accessible, and easy to maintain electronic teaching file with only minimal programming knowledge. To this end, the authors have constructed a teaching file devoted to the full range of musculoskeletal disorders. Over 400 cases and 800 images have been assembled into an easy to search teaching file available on the web. The core of the system is a database which, when queried, generates web pages "on demand" to avoid repetitive web page design and to allow continuous updates of content. In addition, this image collection is enhanced by textual discussion of the cases, the ability to search an online Orthopedic textbook and links to other Internet-based teaching files |
